Apple TV won't pair with remote app

I am asking for your help as I can not pair my Apple TV 4 with app remote on my iPad. I open remote, I choose manually pair and I go the remote menu of the Apple TV.

The Apple TV shows the iPad as potential pair and ask me for the code. I dial the code but nothing happens, only if I dial the wrong code, I have a warning. But if the code is correct, noting happens.

What shall I do? Please help, thanks, Daniele

Seems odd to me that you should have to pair anything. If you're on the same wifi network with home sharing enabled, the app should see the ATV and let you connect to it without a code, as far as I recall.

Actually I am not on the same wifi as the Apple TV is connected through Ethernet to the router

I have found the reason, the router is not on the same wifi as the iPad as there is an extender in between
