The new apple tv app on my iMac shows all my movies in the library like it did with iTunes but when you want to watch them on your tv with apple tv it shows nothing there in library, its like the tv and mac are not linked together anymore and can not watch my movies, Apple support are scratching their heads over this and now escalated this and waiting for reply, I always use to be able to watch movies on Apple tv through iTunes but with iTunes gone it seems they have missed something with the link on apple tv.

Those movies are bought on iTunes? Or locally stored movies on your iMac?
If it's the latter: go to the macOS settings and turn on home sharing (used to be an iTunes setting, but now it's a system setting) and you can watch the movies with the "computer" app
