Apple appears to have updated the speaking voice of Siri on devices in Germany, based on reports compiled by iphone-ticker.de (via ifun.de).

According to the website, several readers have reported Siri's German speech comes across as more natural and melodic than before, especially on HomePod, although the changes are subtle, with better pronunciation and different inflection depending on what's being said.

Apple thoroughly revised Siri's voice in 2017 with the introduction of iOS 11, which also brought enhancements to the voice assistant's machine learning and artifical intelligence. Apple also tweaked Siri's British and Australian voices to be more natural in February 2019.

I just checked and switched from male to female voice and I can confirm that (after the download of the female voice) Siri sounds more fluent, compared to the male voice. she also sounds less angry.

However, the male voice still sounds like „wall-e“ dying after each word. Too „robotic“ and „autotuned“

I have the opposite experience, because I had the male voice set. I hope my female voice gets updated in due time as well, because I do not like the new male voice (it was deeper before).

This article send my imagination to the cartoon Ferdinand with the scenes of horses:
Aaaah... I’ve fallen zown and cannot giddy-up! :))

I would love it if Apple would have German-English, French -English or even Italian - English accent.
Just imagine: Hey Siri! do I put ketchup on the pizza?
Ei ei o ei. You do not a put a ketchup on a the pizza ei?!!

Siri sollte eine zweite Sprache verstehen können. Englische Musiker, Titel, Orte usw werden nie erkannt.

yes especially voice to text should work with two languages, depending on the language you type with that contact. Same with Siri reading messages via AirPods. They sound HILARIOUS when Siri attempts to pronounce English the German way

The female voice hasn't been updated. Still sound like crap. But I'd rather have a crappy female voice than a male voice for my Siri.

Voice to text works on my Apple watch in English, German and Norwegian, but I guess that is not Siri.
And yes we need bi-lingual Siri.

Only in Germany? Or was this article written by someone who assumes nobody outside Germany would use Siri in German (or even speak German)?

I also noticed that Siri got better at grammar. Up until a few days ago, she used to answer with "Gute Morgen!", which really, under all circumstances, should be "Guten Morgen!"

I also second the call for bi-lingual Siri. At least English should be understood and pronounced in combination with all other languages, as so many things of daily use are in English - picking music for example.

On a side note, I always had her set to female voice. The name "Siri" sounds female to me (I also happened to know a girl who was actually named Siri) - would be strange to get an answer in a male voice for me.

Though if it notices you're in S. Germay / Munich it should answer with Grüß Gott 😃

Das stimmt. I can read German, but since I never have anyone to talk to, would be nice if I could practice by communicating with Siri in German without having to go to the hassle of switching back her language back and forth. (I practice writing by hanging out in Leica forums :).

Wir können uns gerne per PM auf Deutsch unterhalten. Ich bin sicher, dass ich eine Menge über CPUs lernen würde. 🙂

Well, then you'd have to add "Moin" for northern Germany, too.

Like many other services, Apple has a different Siri configuration for each country/region to account for dialect differences. This changes a number of factors including voice/accent in both text to speech and voice recognition, vocabulary used in responses, country-specific information sources, etc.

English has 9 different variations: Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK, and US. Similarly, German has 3 different modes: Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Thus, a change to Siri in Germany does not mean it applies to all German-speaking regions.

Sehr gut! Aber seien Sie sich bewusst, ich habe vor 40 Jahren Deutsch von Österreichern gelernt, die seit 40 Jahren nicht mehr in Europa gelebt haben. Sie hatten kein Wort für CPU :)

Can they tweak the mail app so it works again?

Apparently not :-(

Arnie!? 😶😀

Kein Problem - niemand in Deutschland benutzt das deutsche Wort für CPU (Hauptprozessor).
