guys i just thought of something. if there are no new ibooks and/or powerbooks today, look at the iTunes countdown to 500,000,000, its very close don't you think? i think its very wise even if the iBook isn't updated right now that we wait for the 500,000,000 mark may mean the new update.

The UK Apple site is not down. However, I get this message when accessing the UK Store...
Did not receive any response from application. It is possible that the application does not exist, or that the requested url is incorrect.

And this one when accessing the Ireland store...
No instance found

Anybody else experiencing this?

doubtful...and yes, the stores are down...but alot of the international stores went down last week...and the week before that.

Another thing i noticed is that the countdown on the apple UK/ireland page is off by like 2000 compared to the apple USA page.

look at the countdowns at both and you'll see that the countdowns are out of sync which shows that the countdown is premediated and is planned for a certain time. looks like one more week (if it's not released in the next couple of hours)

but yeah ig ot the same errors as you did trying to logon to those pages.

what's the time difference with these stores. And has the european stores posted new products before all the other stores before?

ummmm... what the hell are you talking about itunes count up has nothing to do with the new notebooks where did you draw that connection from?

*note is that a real countup or just a number climbing at a fixed rate?

You know on the main page http://www.apple.com/uk/

look at the 500,000 song countdown, and compare it to the httpL//www.apple.com 500,000 song countdown. These two are clearly out of sync (they're not at the same number at the same rate). I also did a check on the rate. Every minute the counter is changing by 1000 songs. Subtract 500,000,000 - whatever number the countdown is at, thats the number of songs left, divide the number of songs left by 1000, then you get the number of minutes, then divide the number of minutes by hours, then divide the number of hours by days, and you get like 7 days. This means next monday we will get the 500,000,000 countdown to finish, which makes it possible for the event to update the tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys do the math if you don't believe me, the numbers are very close!!!!!!!!

I'm definitely excited right now (because i think i figured it out)

soo, ummmmm, basically itunes and the ibook are now officialy the same sort of thing for an update.

The european stores cannot be down for this long.....seems money is lost when they are not up and running. I assume they'l be back shortly.

I think next week is it. iTunes celebration and this makes perfect sense to me.

wouldn't the itunes celebration be a little better time to release the iphone or whatever it's going to be called, rather than an update to the ibook.

guys check the apple us website, check the store around (especialyl the ibook buying sectino) it seems as though the layout is different now!!!!

guys, it's really easy to check that stuff. It's called viewing the source.

apple usa calls http://wdirect.apple.com/home/counter500million.js

in that script there is a "var incr = 100 //in msecs". it climbs up 10 times a second.

however, the initial value is pulled from an xml file ("http://www.apple.com/itunes/external_counter.xml") which stores not only that value, but the rate at which it should climb per incriment.

What this would have to do with ibooks is beyond me...

There are 400 "ibook tomorrow!!!!" threads around. Post in there.

Who knows ...

It is about 7 am over there, so updating for the morning makes sense. But, who really knows. It's about 1 am here, so I'm off to bed. It'd be nice if there's an update to wake up to in the morning, but I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over it.

i can't wait to catch this thread in the morning. $10 says Mood's appendix bursts.

Goodnight and get a grip. In the end, it's just a computer.
