Apple unknown charge to my account?

I ordered a BTO 17" Unibody Macbook Pro which has not shipped yet but is scheduled to Feb. 26. Is it normal for apple to make a charge to validate an account? I could imagine a dollar or something... "Check Card APL APPLE ONLINE STORE 800 676 $19.49 "

Does anyone know where this comes from? I would call the store but since I ordered through apple developer connection I know they are closed. Has this happened to anyone else?

No I haven't. I even checked my e-mail to see if I was sent a receipt. Nothing. Is this a normal procedure that is done when you buy a high priced product?
