Apple is bringing new features to the Health app that aim to make it easier to identify, measure, and understanding health changes over time.

Mobility tracking will soon capture a new Walking Steadiness metric to assess your fall risk, by measuring speed and evenness of gait. Apple will leverage the data to generate a classification of your steadiness and how it changes over time.

Apple is also adding detailed descriptions to help users better understand lab results. These will enable you to see whether results are in expected ranges, and allow you to get additional info on the metrics. And with Trends, you'll see long-term changes for metrics like steps, sleep, and so on.

There's also a new ability to share your health data with your physician in a secure way, allowing doctors to see health records and spot trends over time. This can also be shared with family members or a care team, so that you can keep track of meaningful changes in personal health metrics of everyone in your family.

Walking steadiness could get interesting. Obviously there are legal issues to address but it could give a good estimate of alcohol impairment.

And when you get too unsteady, you can buy the Apple motorized old person scooter. I really would love to see that all the health data could be uploaded in either a report, web page of the data rather than how we do it now. For example, my blood glucose uploads to a website where I can dig in deeper and then add in my carbs and get some meaning that this is good, and you will never be svelt again, fat boy. Maybe later?

My app kinda does this. But soon it will be irrelevant if Apple includes this in Health. Good for users, bad news for me :(

Read a possible leak the other day somewhere that mentioned Apple may release a food tracking feature. I was hoping to see something that could rival or be better than MFP considering it’s missing some pretty big things that I find annoying. Disappointed we didn’t see this.

Decent? Yes. Incredible? Not so much...
I found it anticlimactic, I got up and did chores, I checked in once in a while. having all the different people on there made it soooooo boring. Just give me Craig he is very personable.

given our obsession with data protection - we won't see the lab results in Germany anytime soon.

I wish I had the money to buy my elderly parents an Apple Watch each - they live in another country and I’m constantly concerned about their health as they have had a few falls. The health sharing feature would be perfect for this.

Very cool. The data will no doubt be game changing for health studies. I wonder what the reaction to this will be from the general health care provider population, though? I've heard more than a few doctors and nurses bemoan the self-diagnosis and hypochondria and anxiety people get just because of the heart rate and ECG sensors in the watch.

I am so glad Apple got into this area. I was an early user of Google Health and Microsoft Health Vault over a decade ago. They were actually pretty useful given the tech at the time. (especially for someone with Health issues that need to keep track of health records). Both were discontined. MS Health really stopped being useful years befofe the official end.

The Apple Health is great and its getting better. I’m a firm believer in competition makes companies better so I wish there was another company or two pushing Apple.

If only so I could get my audiogram loaded into Headphone Accommodations as I do on my iPhone so I can hear my Airpods Max properly. Be great to do that with the Mac, too.

And it would be great with Apple TV!

Share with family or doctors… do that will take in consideration that you use sex toy or you made a masturbation and you don’t make a heart attack?

Where can I see that dashboard view shown in the article? Is Apple making an app for the iPad or MacOS?
Agreed. I wish MR would point out what the screenshot is. While scrolling through I assumed it was an iPad version of Health. I guess it’s some third party app…

I do wish the Health app was available on iPad. If only so I could get my audiogram loaded into Headphone Accommodations as I do on my iPhone so I can hear my Airpods Max properly. Be great to do that with the Mac, too. Or at LEAST make it so that EQ mod stays with the headphones instead of the players.
How did you load the audiogram into the iphone? I'm trying to do this for a relative and I can't figure out how to manually enter it. Any help appreciated, I tried searching and haven't found much.
