Apple has updated its Made for iPhone, Made for iPad, and Made for iPod logos, and accessory makers have 90 days from when the change was announced in mid February to begin using them, according to ChargerLab.

The new decals look similar, but they have Apple logos in place of iPhone, iPad, and iPod icons. Apple has also moved iPod from first to last in the list, as the iPhone and iPad have long overshadowed the portable media player. The new logos use Apple's San Francisco font, compared to Myriad Pro previously.

Made for iPhone, Made for iPad, and Made for iPod logos inform customers that an electronic accessory has been certified by the developer to meet Apple's performance standards. To use the logos, accessory makers must apply to be a MFi Program licensee, and receive approval from Apple.

MFi-licensed technologies include the Lightning connector, CarPlay, GymKit, HomeKit, game controllers, and hearing aids, among others. MFi Program certification is not required for accessories that only make use of standard Bluetooth profiles supported by iOS, or accessories that only use the 3.5mm headphone jack.

For customers, this isn't a significant change. But, next time you're shopping for Apple-certified accessories, be aware the logos will soon change on packaging. It doesn't appear the similar Made for Apple Watch decal has changed.

(Thanks, Nick!)

Haha. I’ve been telling, for over 2 years almost, that Apple is pointing out that the iPhone name will be replaced by Apple (insert symbol here) Phone.
iTunes, iBooks, iCloud are all becoming relics of the past.
Now it is Apple Pay, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch (not iWatch), Apple MacBook (look how subtle it is that they now put the apple symbol before the MacBook name), Apple Music...
Even iBooks is being replaced by just purely “Books” in some of the new iOS betas.
Watch it happen, now it is Apple iPhone. In a few years, Apple Phone.

;)

You heard it first here.
(Even the mess with the iPhone X (ten) branding is explained in light of such a deliberate weakening of the iPhone brand. It won’t stay here for long.)

Too bad it doesn’t mean crap. Bought an anker lightning cable. Tried to do a local backup of my iPhone. Nope wouldn’t work. Had to use an Apple cable.

Anker stuff has been fantastic for me, perhaps your cable is damaged.

I have a bunch of Anker Lightning cables. They all work with local backup and iTunes syncing. Which one did you buy?

I bought these:

Anker Lightning Cable / iPhone Charging Charger Cable (3ft), MFi Certified for iPhone X / 8 / 8 Plus / 7 / 7 Plus / 6 / 6 Plus / 5S (White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K4VQZCM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_QNOPAbTW3J2KR

I will trouble shoot as I bought a few. I just got annoyed on the first one not working and used an apple one. Agree anker stuff is good, just get frustrated with this stuff from time to time.

Pure conjecture and speculation on my part, but I could also see them switching the iBooks to Books so that they can re-introduce an “iBook” laptop that runs on a version of iOS to replace the MacBook Air.

That famous Apple attention to detail strikes again!

The separator between iPhone and iPad is unbolded.
The separator between iPad and iPod is bolded.

That kind of carelessness is typical of Apple these days. If that logo got released in the Jobs era, the graphic designer responsible would've been fired immediately, and deservedly so.
Yeah, that REALLY stuck out to me. Is it a problem with the versions of the logos on this article, or are Apple's master copies actually carrying that defect?

iPod???? What’s that? :p
Id like to share: Reasons why I love my iPod Touch. It saves my phone battery when I just want to listen to music. Since iTunes does not save new music unless you Sync it right away it’s stored on my iPod. icloud doesn’t store any music at all. My iPod touch is there with everything like a back up if something happens to my iPhone. Yay for iPods!

Calm down, mate.
They did that on purpose...by constructing a thicker wall to separate iPods from what they care now. Soon, the iPods will be gone too.

My favorite thing about this comment is your username running outside of it's container and over the page content. I don't think I've seen this before.

MacRumors @arn I would fix the username text overflow issue this way to be most compatible if you're able to customize the forum CSS:

Code:
.messageUserBlock a.username {
  hyphens: auto;
    -ms-hyphens: auto;
    -moz-hyphens: auto;
    -webkit-hyphens: auto;
  overflow-wrap: break-word;
  word-wrap: break-word;
  word-break: break-word;
    -ms-word-break: break-all;
}

The easier way, if you don't mind a simple cut-off, is to add overflow:hidden to div.uix_userTextInner. Or just set character limits for new usernames—but this doesn't solve the issue for existing users.
