Apple today released an update for the WWDC app for iOS devices and the Apple TV, introducing a number of bug fixes ahead of the kickoff of the conference next Monday.

The 5.0.1 update addresses several issues, fixing bugs that could cause news and schedule updates to display in the wrong case and making videos on the Apple TV more stable.
Thank you for your bug reports and feedback. This update includes the following resolutions:

- News displays properly in all cases.
- Friday sessions display correctly on iPad with a time zone outside of PDT.
- The schedule updates correctly in all cases.
- VoiceOver label is correct for the shuttle stop on Thursday's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium map.
- Videos on Apple TV are more stable.
Apple released the 2016 update for the WWDC app last week, debuting a new look and a new version thts also works on the fourth-generation Apple TV.

The WWDC app is designed to be used by both conference attendees and developers who were not able to obtain tickets for the event. In addition to providing on-site tools for viewing start times for labs, sessions, and events, the app also offers the ability to watch live streaming sessions with Apple engineers.

Developers who are not able to attend WWDC will still be able to virtually attend sessions through the WWDC app on iOS devices and the Apple TV.

Earlier today, Apple updated its event website to note that it will be live streaming the 10:00 a.m. keynote event on June 13. It is not yet clear if the live stream will be available through the WWDC app, but if not, it will be viewable on Apple's events website and through an events app on the Apple TV.

The WWDC app can be downloaded from the App Store for free. [Direct Link]

Has anyone noticed that the colors in the launch image (during the launch animation) are different from the app itself?

Just looked, seem like their roles are switched, the dark is primary then becomes accents, while the gray blue is the accent and then turns into the background. Doesn't make sense.

so many bugs...nothing is spared...who needs viruses these days?

Are Apple coders sleep deprived or are they just incompetent? I would think this company would be hiring the best of the best....I guess not...

Lol even the WWDC app is getting bug fixes
I was logging in to Laugh my ass off at this. You beat me to it. yet I has a sad. considering I have a multitude of Macs dating back to Motorolla. And they still run just damn fine! Wait..can we have an Apple Music Playlist from some Dress designer every time Apple Fs Up their poo pad or Phony from Jony or Mac that lacks.. I'd love to hear that!

Glad to know that you can write perfect code every single time!

It's a bit of humour ;) seems lots of people got it .....

On a serious note, good luck writing perfect code when your markerting department commits you to doing an annual major update of your OS, hello tech debt and unrealistic timeframes, irrespective how good your devs are, we are seeing this in the software across the board.

Let's just suspend reality. Certainly seems quite rational.

I'm sorry, you have not seen an increase of OS updates from apple, mostly bugs? Reality is that software quality has dropped cause of the annual update cycles. Can't remember the last time major releases bricked devices .

So now we are discussing something else?

As per title, bugs.... And software updates . Even a simple WWDC app is getting the same treatment.
Yes, bug fixes for an app. Simple reality is that when a new app or a newly redesigned version of an app is released it's more usual than unusual that there would likely be an update with some fixes and/or modifications of one type or another, generally sooner than later (at least for an actively developed app).

An apple app to be precise. And given the amount of recent sooner than later software updates for iOS and OS X straight after a major release to fix critical issues, people are having a bit of a laugh.

You have not noticed a drop in software quality since moving to annual software cycles? I have, across the board. I can honestly say I have had less restarts of my MacBook Pro running Windows 10, compared to OS X , and before that even gets corrected, we are about to have a new OS announced next week.....cause a new free OS each year sells hardware

If your machine run perfect awesome, mine do not, and I have noticed a drop in quality . And working in software development , it's obvious what the cause is

Same here brother (or sister). I don't know how peo Le can't se (or won't admit) that. Apple is still the standard, but the gap is closing really fast.

I don't understand why there need 2 B bug fixes. Isn't this last year's app just updated for this year's event? Can't Apple even get that right without introducing bugs into it? My confidence keeps growing?

So, as I mentioned, brining up something else unrelated into it?

Yeah, it works like you imagine, not how it actually does in reality.

Ah, okay, good to know! :) Maybe I'm just jaded from the MR forums, but it seems like a lot of people around here have their own reality and expectation distortion fields.

On a serious note, good luck writing perfect code when your markerting department commits you to doing an annual major update of your OS, hello tech debt and unrealistic timeframes, irrespective how good your devs are, we are seeing this in the software across the board.
Been there, done that unfortunately. And that feature that they never told you about being added to the baseline, but promised the customer, yeah, that was supposed to be in the next release.

The app seems to be written in Swift, which means that they did rewrite it at some point within the last few years and it will have to be maintained as Swift is developed further. Last year, the lead developer of this app also had a presentation about its main code, where he went over the complexity underneath it. It really is not the same app anymore than from a few years ago.
