Apple upgrade plan people...iPhone 7 question

I see lots of people asking if people will skip the iPhone 7, but I'm wondering if any of those people bought their current phone under the Apple Upgrade plan? I bought my phone that way and unless I plan to skip getting a new phone for 3 years, then it doesn't make sense to skip the 7.

If you upgrade every year, you'll just continue to trade in your phones and pay the monthly fee.

If you skip years, you'll just pay the monthly fee and after the 2 years is up the phone belongs to you.
