Apple's iphone upgrade program is only $5 more a month than Verizon's payment plan ($36.58 vs. $31.24) so was wondering what exactly is the the advantage of going Verizon's route? With Apple, for only $5 morea month I can upgrade when a new phone comes out and get Apple Care. Just seems like a no brainer, especially if one is going to upgrade when the new phone comes out next september. Am I missing something here? I don't see any promotions being run by Verizon that would make it worth it to buy the new iphone 7 through Verizon over Apple.

Verizon offers early upgrade if you're on the latest iPhone.

If you need the AppleCare use apple. If not, use Verizon.

on Verizon's website it says you can trade in a current model, pay $99 and get the new 7. Was there some promotion early on in September where people could trade in their 6's and get a 7 with no additional $99 fee? I'd like to get the 7 and then the new iphone when it comes out next September but don't want to pay $99 to upgrade if that is the only route for an early upgrade.
