Apple USB keyboard (via camera connection kit) not working?

I bought a camera connection kit because I had seen online that you could connect your USB keyboard to your iPad 2 and use it to type, but upon connecting my keyboard it gives me the 'this device is not supported' message and then the keyboard doesn't work...

Does anybody have any experience with this??
