Hi,

I recently bought an Apple USB Modem, so I could use my MacBook again after having to use my old 12" PowerBook while in hospital using dial-up.

Using the PowerBook I easily achieved speeds over 50000 bps, with the same ISP and line I'm getting either 28800 or 33000 bps - nothing in excess of those speeds.

Now I read a review on the Apple Store claiming that fax speeds were slow, but have been unable to find any information on slow Internet speeds. Has anyone experienced this or know of any modem script changes or tweaks? I have tried both v.90 and v.92 scripts.

Thanks.

Hi,
Has anyone experienced this or know of any modem script changes or tweaks? I have tried both v.90 and v.92 scripts.

Connection with the external apple modem is unstable here, since 10.4.9 update . I changed to v.34 script and got stability...:(
Booting from a Mac OS X 10.4.8 firewire HD I can use the modem at full speed , 56k, with great stability.

I archived and installed 10.4.9 but doens't help.
I don't know if I can safely downgrade the motorolaSM56K.kext...

I sent a feedback to apple, too...
