I was able to place an Apple online order, this morning, for a Verizon iPX 256GB SG, for pick-up even though I do not have a Verizon account.

This is probably not such a big deal, but some people are saying that the Verizon iPhone X is the "sim-free" model since it works for both CDMA and GSM.

I went through the steps to select my iPhone, selected pay in full, click continue and its asks to "Choose when to activate your new iPhone." I selected "Activate with your Carrier Later."

Nice find. Finally. It didn't earlier. but I guess they just update that.
[doublepost=1510940768][/doublepost]Same goes for AT&T Model as well.

As a Verizon prepaid customer who also wanted the X, I've been checking on this daily! I couldn't do it this morning, but now the order went through. Big thanks for the heads up!

Why they couldn’t just do this from day one is beyond me, but glad they are allowing it now. I still don’t see much reason to specifically seek the QC model this year unless you need CDMA, but the choice should be yours when spending $1k.

This was also brought up in a different thread.

My take, it's holiday buying season, supply is still limited, so, open up sales to a specific carrier without account information for gift purposes. Most people will not care, or don't know, about Qualcomm vs. Intel modems, so, will be buying for carrier phone is needed on. Guessing won't see true sim-free until after holidays.

But, yes, nice, that now one can get "sim-free" via this "backdoor".
