Apple Video Player 1.7.3 OS 9.1 Problem

Hey everyone, I just set up my Power Mac 5500 with the TV tuner card up in my garage. When I launch the Apple Video Player app (1.7.3), I have no sound. I have to close the app, then go to the Sound Control Panel, and select CD-TV-Video for sound input, then everything works correctly. If I quit the tuner app and restart it, there's no sound, and I have to do it all over again. I don't remember having to do this back in the day. Is there a way to keep CD-TV-Video as the input source, even after restarting?
