Apple vs Nvidia web drivers

My MacPro 3,1 is running a GT 640 2GB video card, overall for my casual day to day use I'm very pleased with it using the built in apple driver.
My question is this, is there any real benefit to using the nvidia web driver in my case, like something I'm unaware of?

there might be older apps using cuda
and apps running cuda are always faster then openCL

in this case you will benefit from nvidia’s web driver with cuda driver combination

if you use Sierra , you can use Cuda with apple build in driver for nvidia...
but not in high sierra ....
Apple dropped the Cuda support
