I purchased my watch in April 2019. It worked fine until December 2019. The battery would read some percent above 50 and then all of a sudden the watch would just die. I have had numerous dealings with Apple Support including diagnostic readings remotely, a visit to an Apple store and sending it in for repair,. They say they can't see anything wrong. The issue keeps happening on a very random basis. Just last night the battery read 100% from 10 pm until 2 pm today. During that time I used the workout activity tracker for a 50 minute outdoor walk and the other activity tracker for stretching exercises for 17 minutes. The battery never went lower that 100%. During the past 3 days the watch has just died several times even through the battery shows various levels over 50%. Apple support wants me to send it in again. Has this happened to anyone else? I have Afib and I need my watch to work. Apple has not offered a replacement.

Is the percentage on your watch matching the percentage of the watch battery listed on your iPhone?

Thanks for your reply. The only mention of the watch battery in the iPhone that I'm aware of is putting the battery on the watch face. Is there another place I should be looking?

Oh! So where your widgets are, there should be an option for batteries. You’ll either already have it there or you will have to add it.

So basically from the home screen, swipe left and your widgets are there. Go all the way down and edit if you don’t have it added. Look for batteries and add it. In that widget it’ll tell you what percentage your watch battery is at. I was using a 3rd party app for my battery (Juice Watch) and found out the percentage wasn’t updating on my watch as much. It would be at 60% but die. Percentage on my phone was right but the complication never refreshed.

I added the widget. Thanks. Right now both the watch and the phone so the same amount. I will continue to look at both. Today my battery is declining slowly, 93 at 7 and 82 now after using the activity app for 35 minutes.

have you unpaired and re-paired?

myself and others have had that clear up weird battery issues.

it should backup when you unpair, you can restore from that backup when you re-pair, so you don't loose anything.
the entire process can take up to an hour though.

Yes thanks. Over the 4 months that I've had this problem, the watch has been unpaired and re-paired many times. Sometimes that works but only for a little while.

I have a Series 5 SS LTE and noticed after the latest firmware update my battery performance has been terrible .. I also noticed that if I leave my iPhone on the other side of my home, the watch disconnects from the iPhone and connects to cellular .. I have unpaired and paired multiple times but it looks to me like during the pairing process, the watch is not getting associated to my home's wifi network .. if I go to the watch settings, it lets me connect manually. Once I do this it connects to my home's wifi network each time I put my iPhone in airplane mode. Must be a bug in 6.2

I experienced similar things with my watch close to the 1.5 year mark. The battery indicator would not move the entire day, and all of a sudden it would die in the middle of a workout or in my sleep with over 80% battery remaining. I tried everything - unpair/repair/restore *both* my watch and my iPhone. After all this, my local Apple Store sent it out for repair and I was sent a brand new watch. Now everything is working flawless.
I would encourage you to take it to *another* Apple Store once they open back up and have them send it out again. When they are typing in notes for the repair center, make sure that they type *exactly* what the issues are, not just a blanket statement.
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Was your watch still under warranty?
It was not under “warranty” because it happened after manufacturer’s warranty had expired. However, it was covered under Apple Care so all I had to do was to wait for a few days and pick up my new watch at no cost.
If you purchased Apple Care and continue having issues (even after they send it out for the second time/more Apple Store visits), contact Apple support and see if you are eligible for express replacement –> https://support.apple.com/watch/repair/service/express-replacement
Good luck!

This is a known issue. If it sits at 100 percent for more then a couple hours after you take it off the charger you need to take it off your wrist shut it down for 30 mins. When you turn it back on you will see the true battery reading. you will need to do this about once a week or so.

I have had my replacement watch from Apple for over a week. Everything seems to be working fine now. Thanks for all of the replies.
