I have bought AW7 instead AW8 after waiting 2 years for upgrade even when I returned AW7 last year and sold previous. Just sayin because this is really big step for me as I buy inly newest models 😁 and I have Oura Ring so I do not need another same sensors (temperature).

So, I am going to workout after work to the fitness center and then I go to pool and wellness. I missed AW for two years for training and measure my activity.
When I am in wellness I want to take my iPhone with me (you can sit there and relax) but I do not want to leave it in front of sauna when anyone can grab it and steal it.
So my idea is to take AW7 in sauna and I will see if my iPhone is near me (connected) but I do not know if I can wear it regularly theee times per week to sauna.

Sometimes I saw few people wearing watches in sauna so I think a lot of people do not care. I was even thinking about Garmin Fenix 7 but as Apple it is stated that it is supposed to not wear in the sauna.

So I am not asking about paper specs but real experience when taking AW to sauna. I did not buy newest model so I think I can risk it .. but still I do not want to destroy it:) thanks

Or I thought about AW8 Ultra but specs says it is has no protection against high temperature and it is same as AW7/8 šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

If Apple says don't do it, there must be a reason. If you have AppleCare+, then do it and see for yourself if it's fine.
If you search over Reddit, some people have done it without problems and some had the watch shutting down after 5/10 min.

Your fitness/wellness center doesn't have lockers...?

High temperatures can cause the sealant around the screen to loosen, especially if done repeatedly over time. Apple discourages it.

The following may affect the water resistance of Apple Watch in particular and should be avoided:

  • Dropping Apple Watch or subjecting it to other impacts.
  • Exposing Apple Watch to soap or soapy water, for example while showering or bathing.
  • Exposing Apple Watch to perfume, solvents, detergent, acids or acidic foods, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, or hair dye.
  • Exposing Apple Watch to high velocity water, for example while water skiing.
  • Wearing Apple Watch in the sauna or steam room.
Not all bands are appropriate for water use. For example, the stainless steel and leather bands are not water resistant and should not be exposed to liquids.

But as you said, you're not interested in spec sheets for the s7, but actual experiences. That I don't have. But here are some other threads on the subject. It seems some people have done it and not necessarily had problems (although it's not mentioned how often they do it or if they are regularly upgrading and therefore perhaps not allowing the watch to get to a point where its waterproofing may be compromised).

They have in fitness center but when you go to wellness zone you can relax at the pool and then go to sauna or steam. But there are no lockers and people let their mobiles without lockers with their towels in open shelters.

Don’t don’t do it the heat melts /loosens the glue. It’s the same method Apple uses to take the screen off for repair ā€œextreme heat on the glassā€.
