I picked up the AW Ultra and was planning on using it out on the course. I had two questions for those golfing enthusiasts;

1. Are there any issues with wearing the watch? My biggest concern is wearing the watch while hitting and the impact/vibration of those hits may have some unintended results. I imagine the watch should hold up since it's not a constant impact the watch would be going through.

2. For those that do wear while playing, are there any good watch apps like swing tracker or something to that effect that would be worth checking out? I assume there has to be some good ones out there but not sure if they're any good or not.

Thanks in advance.

The Ultra would hold up to more abuse that the human. It might dent or scratch but it should keep right on working.

I use the Arccos Caddie app and sensors with my Apple Watch Series 6 and there have never been any problems with impact or vibration. The one issue I did have was when my golf glove would push up against the digital crown, but I solved that by flipping the orientation so the crown is now on the other side of the watch away from my wrist.

When the Ultra was announced, my first thought was that it would be great for golf because of the longer battery life (I can get a full 18 holes out of the Series 6 battery, but there's seldom more than 10% left) and the brighter screen. There are plenty of good GPS yardage and score tracker apps out there for the AW family. Enjoy!

I have always worn an Apple Watch while playing so I've very used to it. Never had any issues. I never actually use the watch for shot tracking so I can't comment on battery life. I would say, I am VERY happy with battery life on my Ultra. Pretty confident I could get 2 full days on a charge. I never actually try to go that long because it would take a while to charge it back up.

As far as apps go, I swear by Golf Pad GPS. I pay for the annual premium sub so I can get certain extra features. I do use it for shot tracking so it learns my distances and such. I wouldn't ever play without it.

I’ve played 100’s of rounds with my Apple Watchs. Never had a problem. I use the Hole19 app. It lets you use the watch gps so your phone can be left in the bag.

I'm using my AW8 for golf, a friend has been using his AW7 for a while with no problems. Golf isn't going to hurt it unless you put it on the tee and hit the watch instead of the ball. I tried 18Birdies, now using TheGrint as my golf app. It only uses about 20% battery for a 4 hour round. The free version gives me all I need (F/M/B distances on my wrist, keeping score and tracking basic stats), they also have a paid version if you want more advanced stat tracking.

I've had the caddie system for years and it works very well. tracks my score and gives me yardages on my watch.
