Anyone seen anything on Apple Watch and HomePod integration? I see HomePod has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, but won't support this standard for audio input. Also, you can move phone calls from iPhone to HomePod. How about AW? I realize we'll hear soon enough, but I have seen nary a mention of Apple Watch in this new product release. Did I miss it?

I’m not sure what I’d want to do with my watch and speaker linked. The HomePod would have access to all my music anyway so wouldn’t need to communicate with the watch for that...

Hi Siri do you know the Siri on my :apple:Watch (or iPhone, iMac, iPad or iPhone)? "We are distant cousins with the same name. We don't know much about each other and we NEVER coordinate anything together".

I can see many instances with using the Apple watch to control the Homepod.

-controlling the volume
-playback options

Apple needs to figure out the "hey siri" part where both devices don't get triggered when prompt a question.

The Homepod is a homekit device and the applewatch has controls for homekit accessories. So yeah maybe future update we will see the applewatch be integrated with the homepod with features.

Just that siri kinds as AI assistant, apple needs to focus more to improve siri.

Great question. Now that I'm thinking about it, the Apple Watch would make a great remote for Homepod when you don't feel like speaking, want to see a visual list, or manipulate the volume with more granularity. Probably a lot more use cases we haven't foreseen.

Have a feeling we will see something about it for S4. Just a hunch though.

Edit: if you’re playing music from iPhone, on Now Playing on the watch you can change audio target to HomePod though.

It would be great for volume control skipping tracks etc.
I have a strong regional UK accent so I pretty much just control my HomePod via my phone anyway.

You can already use your watch to control the HomePod, it’s just a little convoluted to do.
  1. On your iPhone, force press on the music control in the control centre and it will pop out controls for each playback device you have on the local network. I have four HomePod and three AppleTVs that appear when I do this.
  2. Next, press on the HomePod that you want more control over. It will become the ‘focus’ of your music control on your iPhone. A force press here will take you into the Music app and allow you to select a specific song / album / playlist for the device too, by the way.
  3. Once the Music control has that HomePod as it’s focus, if it playing, the ‘now playing’ controls will appear on your Apple Watch and you can pause / play, track forward or back and control the volume using that screen.

I think the idea is to start music from the watch and select HomePod or any AirPlay speaker right from the watch though.
