IFixit has found that the Apple Watch contains a pulse oximeter that can measure the amount of oxygen in your blood. They speculate that Apple may be waiting for FDA approval before they enable the feature on the watch.

I don't know if I would say they found a discrete (ie separate) pulse ox... From reading their teardown, it seems like the way Apple determines heart rate is based on a device that is technically capable of measuring pulse ox in addition to heart rate. I know its basically like saying they found a pulse ox, but that could be construed to mean that they found an additional (previously unknown) sensor that can measure oxygen in the blood.

"Apple's heart rate monitor is actually a plethysmograph—it looks and acts like a pulse oximeter, but Apple isn’t claiming it can measure your blood oxygen level." (Quote from iFixit teardown page)
