But does the Ultra case mark easier ?
I don’t have any nicks that I can see on my Ultra that I’ve had since release day. I’m not doing anything that you’d expect damage, but I
am a bit of a klutz, and I’ve banged it as usual on doorknobs and seatbelts and what-not. I’ll be wearing it in the garden, where I’m often elbow-deep in dirt. We go hiking … far, far from anything outrageous, but did I mention that I’m a klutz? It’s guaranteed I’ll whack it against a granite boulder as I walk past at some point. That sort of thing. Not remotely hard-core, but impacts are assured.
May I suggest?
Watch this:
Notice the quantity and character of the case damage after the watch was literally dragged behind a car down the road, sparks flying.
This is going to be entirely a matter of personal taste. But, for me, I’m expecting the watch to age very well, with the few-and-far-between nicks adding a welcome patina. Maybe I’ll even remember, “
this one came when I went over the rapids in Oak Creek Canyon on an inner tube and almost hit my head on the big rock!"
This watch is meant to be used, and used hard. It should look good, but not like one of those Jeeps that’s never been anywhere more adventurous than the remote end of the shopping mall parking lot, and even then only on Wednesday mornings.
I’m not sure, but, if I had to guess, you may well be the type that prefers the out-of-the-box look of your well-cared-for S7. Which is exactly why Apple made that watch like that.
The Ultra is at least as well made, but with a different intended purpose.
(Then again, you might prefer the Ultra — just make a well-informed decision!)
