I have read some mixed opinions on this topic. Can someone please update me on what the watch is like to play music? I gather you can really only use itunes or Spotify apps from the watch. I have a lot of music on itunes. I also have some music on Amazon music but I gather that there is still no app on the watch to listen to Amazon music. A shame but there we are I guess.

Music is key for me in buying a 'smart watch'

Thank you.

Its great for music. However I have never tried to play music from the watch without headphones so you need wireless headphones. You can stream from your phone and use the music controls on the watch to select albums, playlists, volume etc. You can download music from your phone to the watch so you can still play music from your watch without having your phone or if you have an LTE enabled watch with a data plan, you can stream from Apple music. I have Apple Music and local stuff on iTunes so i cant really comment on other music services.
I would imagine that as the watch is connected to the phone via bluetooth then if you have Spotify or Amazon music, you should still be able to stream from those services to the watch via your phone and use the watch to control your selection etc.. I cant say for certain though.

Thanks. As long as the watch can play playlists without being near the phone that’s ok. Is the app on the watch quiet straight forward to use? I don’t really won’t to carry my phone whilst out running. That’s the whole point for me in getting the watch. Then I can listen to my tunes through it (with wireless headphones, such as the APP).

Yes you can down load music from your iPhone to the watch via the music app on the watch. Once you have selected the music then put your watch on the charger and let it download from the watch as it may take a while. Overnight would be best.. You can only download about 8 gig though if you have a S3, 4,5 or 6. Its very easy to do.
Then use the music app on your watch to selected playlists, albums etc and controls to select tracks, increase volume etc. Its very intuitively straight forward.

I’m in two minds in getting the cellular. It’s another £5 a month to pay with 02. I can get by I guess without it, but then again I would like it to be used without being near my phone the whole time. It’s a bit like the iPad and whether you get the lte version or WiFi only. I’ve always had WiFi only models and would never change that. However the iPad is a completely different device to the watch!

Re Apple Music streaming. It’s £10 a month and I don’t really know if it’s worth it for me. I personally listen to a few playlists from songs I own (all good songs I like) which keeps me going for 45-60mins. The duration of my exercise. If money was no object then yes I’d get the Apple Music as always good to listen to new stuff as and when it gets released I guess.

You dont need an LTE plan if you are happy with 8 gig of available storage on the watch for music. It sounds if if it will be more than adequate for your needs.

Yes it seems that way. What other benefits are there with having LTE, excluding receiving calls, sending texts?

I have no issues if I play from music I’ve transferred to the watch but can’t start music from my watch if it’s stored on the phone.....since iOS14

Yes calls and texts are great as you doing need your phone. Plus you get other notifications such as WhatsApp and eBay
