I have an old 1st gen Apple Watch (so the series 0) that is running watch os 4.3.2 which should be the most recent version it can handle. During the pairing process with my iPhone 12 running iOS 16 I got an error when trying to log in to my Apple ID, saying "problem connecting to server" or something like that. I skipped that step and then tried to log in later in settings but there I get the error "Apple Watch needs to be updated" when this could not be true because it is the most recent supported version of watchOS. I tried resetting the watch twice and restarted my iPhone a couple times but nothing seems to work.

I also thought maybe iCloud advanced data protection was a problem so I turned that off but it still is not working.

Does anyone have any idea of what I can do to fix this?

Call Apple Customer Support?
I contacted them via the chat on the apple site but after explaining everything they told me to give it to a certified apple repair center, which I think is not worth the money because the watch itself is worth like €30.
