I recently checked the maps in the fitness app for my daily walks and noticed that the maps are nowhere near correct. The distances and calories had been pretty consistent with what I would have expected, but the maps were all over the place (walking nowhere near a road, diagonally through neighborhoods, etc). The last time I looked at the maps was probably in the summer and everything was great and very accurate, to the point that it showed where I had to spin in a circle to untangle myself from the dog’s leash. I saw in a previous thread that people had issues with watchos7 not recording data. All of my map data is recorded, the maps just aren’t remotely accurate.
Is anyone else seeing this issue? I am using a series 6 with OS7.2.

did you ever calibrate your watch?
I restored from a backup of a previous watch that had multiple years of calibration data. I’ve never had to recalibrate the watch when I’ve upgraded and the GPS tracking has always been fine (it was my understanding that the calibration data was used if there wasn’t GPS available to track the distance).

I think the watch calibration is ok because it is showing a correct distance for the walk. The map is just showing something completely off that wouldn’t correspond to the distance walked, so I think it is a GPS and not a calibration issue.

AW 6 40mm here. GPS is as accurate as any watch I’ve had if not better. I run with my wife, she has a Garmin and we record on Strava. Our run tracks are invariably a mirror image of each other.
