I have a 1st Gen (0) Apple Watch. Thinking about upgrading.

Don’t care about waterproofing, GPS, or cellular connectivity.

Are the new Apple Watches actually any better at registering “wrist raise” motions than the older watches?

Compared to the first generation Apple Watch, the sensitivity with raise to wake has much improved. Actually, you just need to roll your wrist, and it activates as well.

The Series 3 seems vastly improved over the Series 0 in raise to wake sensitivity. The roll motion is almost foolproof.
