Apple Watch in-person trade-in-ability at Apple Store?

So now when you're in the buying process and go to trade in your old watch there is no Apple website checkout available option to do so in-person in-store. Only mail-in trade pack. I've had a couple bad experiences with mailing things in to apple for trade and don't want to go down that path again, even with the low stakes $130 trade-in value of my watch. I just want to upgrade my series 9 silver to an 11 space gray and preferably do so in person so that I can turn in my old watch. But given that there's no online option I assume this is new policy to avoid the barrage of people coming in swapping their old watches at launch? Or do they still do this in store on the sly if you just want to buy in person?

Just go to Apple store in person, show your old watch and tell them it is time for trade-in.
