Apple Watch - issues with Messages between watches

So the messages between watches don't work. Or have a huge delay when sending (4-5, sometimes even 12 hours). This is the case for both emojis and predefined phrases. I'm sending these to my girlfriend on her Watch from mine, she's the only person I know that owns one. Did anyone else have this issue?
