I purchased a new Apple Watch Series 9 and a Nike Midnight Sky Nike Band.

I noticed that when wearing the band, the watch locks immediately after I unlock it. I have tried repositioning the watch on my wrist, fighting the band so that it’s snug and no matter what, the watch still locks.

So I decided to put take off that band and use my Nike Fabric Band and it works great. No locking of the watch at all times.

Do anyone know if the sport bands have a wearing in phase or something? So that the watch doesn’t keep locking when using said band.

Sounds strange that it happens only with one band type… maybe it‘s still too loose?
You could also try disabling and re-enabling wrist detection, helped me once in the past when my S6 did this from time to time for no apparent reason.

Yea it’s strange but the band is also kind of stiff. Maybe from being brand new.

The watch/band is not still loose. I’ve tightened it as much as I could and it would lock. I also tried disabling and reenabling wrist detection and that too, did not help.

I switched the watch to wearing it on my right wrist (no tattoos).

My left forearm has a tribal tattoo that goes down to my wrist area and I’m assuming that that’s what was making the watch lock up so much much. However, I didn’t have this issue before with any other Apple Watch models.

However after 2 days, it seems to be working just great now.
