As per the title?

If you’re not into fitness, what is it about the AW that you love/couldn’t be without?

Fitness is definitely the main reason I‘m loving my Apple Watches.
But there are other things that I wouldn’t want to miss like Apple Pay, notifications, Siri (for timers?) or simply the look on the wrist of the different models with different band options.

Absolutely. It intially was my main reason for having an Apple watch. It goes well beyond that now but its still very much centered around fitness.

I originally bought the Watch for the remote camera feature. Now I end up using it for so many things, including fitness.

I am not into fitness anymore because I found out that I am naturally fit without putting in any effort.

Yes, but even if I wasn't into fitness I would still love my Apple Watch. It's so convenient to pay with Apple Pay. I have to look at my phone so much less because I can see if a notification is important or not.

Both - But I like my AW more for the fitness part.

I like watches (I have quite a few, some nice ones);I didn't consider an AW until it had AOD, as I didn't want to wear a black slab.

I don't care about fitness. I don't use a smartphone (have a discarded SE 1G from my daughter for the watch connection that is now laying around in the house), but iPad plus iMac (and now AW).
I like my AW7 (first AW) as a iPod replacement, notification display, neat way to use messages, reminders and other stuff as an extension for my iMac. I waited for years for the AW to gain independence from iPhone but this way it works for me, too.

Couldn’t give a flying f- about any of the fitness features, but love my Apple Watch for its other features

As a watch / notifications / Weather / Phone and that’s about it for me. No Fitness functions needed.

Yeah I’m into fitness…fitness whole sub in mah mouth.

But seriously, yeah I use it for running every chance I get. Made 500 miles this year, which is really good for me given my work schedule. I use RunGap to give me stats on my runs. I also icatcher to play music while running without my phone, without paying a streaming service, and without using iTunes for music transfer. The rings are very motivating, and the weather complication let’s me know how many layers to wear and the best time of day to run. I love this watch!

Short Story - AW probably saved my life

TL;DR;
During the 90's and early 2000's I was fairly fit and played beach volleyball 3 or 4 times a week, along with weight training. After my first daughter was born (mid 2000) I had to dial that back a bit and changes in work requirements required travel etc. Add knee injury to that and the next 5 or so years I gained a lot of weight and it was like a downward spiral. Along with that I developed sleep apnea and the things that go along with that (High BP, pre diabetes).

So FF to Fall 2019 I was 6'2" and 375lbs. My wife got me a AW 5 for our anniversary. For a week or so I wore it and it bugged me about getting my butt out of the chair and to breathe.

Well I took it to heart....by eating less and being more active. I came up with a 2 year plan to lose weight and get back to volleyball....

So now its almost 2022 - I'm down to 28lbs, off the BP meds...I still use CPAP just because I used to it. I'm also back to volleyball league this fall....and feel great....

Now my knees are still not happy about the volleyball but 95 less lbs is great for them. I'd like to drop 30 more then off to the orthopedic to see what they say

I didn't initially get it for that reason, but the watch really helped me to "get out there" more. In short, it motivated me. Sorry, don't want to start that thread again ... ;)

meh why not....I think it a good reminder that wearables can and do have an impact if you let them. It's one thing to go to the Dr each year and have them give you a kind reminder that you need to work on this or that concerning your health...but they don't have the time to check in to see how you are doing.

Some people poo poo wearables "I don't need no watch to remind me to whatever". And that's great, to each their own..

Is Apple's implementation perfect? Far from it. One miss is "day off". If rings and challenges are your thing Apple should account for a day off as those are as important to fitness as the workouts are.

I'm into fitness but it's not the primary reason for the watch. There doesn't seem to be that option on the voting.

Primarily I use it for the time but I also use it for calendar, notifications, messages, fitness, controlling home audio/video (Spotify, AppleTV, Netflix etc).

Exactly. If some people do and/or it helps them meet their goals I can't see how that's a bad thing.

I use my watch exclusively for fitness these days. More specifically, Fitness+. Once I'm done it goes right back on the charger until the next workout.
