Apple Watch LTE question for sometimes Android user

I often switch back and forth between iOS and Android. When I switch, I normally turn off iMessage on my iPhone. I recently activated the LTE on my Apple Watch. If I were to put my sim in my Android, but not deactivate iMessage, I assume iMessages will still come through on my watch?

I don’t have an android phone on hand to test, but I did just place an order for a new Pixel.
