Just left the phone at home and went out for a bit. The wife had her phone with her. Since we left the watch went back and forth between a few bars and no reception (red X). At one point it just couldn't get anything and stayed with no reception. No text messages went through and for the 2 hours we were out I could not make/receive a call or a text message. Each spot we went I verified on the other phone we had that reception was not an issue.

Anyone else have a terrible experience with Verizon?

Mine is great!

Depends. I have no trouble with Verizon cell service anywhere in Los Angeles, but I frequently get bad LTE data service coverage, especially in areas near the beach. The closer I get to the beach, the worse the LTE data coverage. Again, doesn’t affect phone calls though.

I wonder if the watch is a true cell phone, or does it simply have LTE based VOIP service that are dependent on good LTE data services?
