The news app made by Apple on the watch never updates to the current top stories on the iPhone Apple news app

currently the top story on Apple Watch news app is Democrats trying to get enough votes to impeach trump
And that’s old

I tried rebooting the watch , closing the app from background and reopening

it just doesn’t update to the current top stories

I deleted the app from the iPhone , that removed the Apple from the Apple Watch

I then redownloaded the app and still today the first story is the same 2 weeks old

I'm having the same issue. I have an Apple Watch Series 3 on the latest software version. I restarted both the iPhone and the Apple Watch to no avail. I also force closed the News app on the Watch and opened it again multiple times with no luck. Did this ever resolve for you?

Update: Of course a few minutes after I typed this, the stories randomly updated after a few more times of opening and closing the app.

Do you have more than one watch? I know that if you have multiple watches, only the “live” one gets news updates. Sometimes people turn off automatic switching and forget that they did that.

I’ve found that I actually need to swipe through the stories then Close the app and re open and it will refresh, its a bit of a pain.

I just opened up News on my S6 and the first story is the Chiefs taking a 3-0 lead in the Super Bowl.

Yes, I find the News app infuriating. As others have mentioned, when I open it, the stories are old, so I wait a moment (presumably to let the watch download new stories), then get out of the app, and immediately open it again.

I keep searching for a way to refresh in the app, but just cannot figure it out. It’s such a poor user experience. I feel like I must be doing something wrong.
