Did your new Apple Watch series 6 have a clear, plastic sticker on the front of the watch when you received it? Thanks in advance. Asking because there are some other signs that they may have sent me one that was already opened/returned, like spots on the stainless. Bought from Apple.

nope.. it was in some sort of paperlike sleeve.. this was a way smoother microfibre sleeve in earlier generations ;)
Gotcha. Same here... There are some tiny, water-like spots around both sides of the dial, though, that don't seem to wipe off? Don't remember that on my 4.

Where did you buy it for. Zero chance Apple would sell returned items as new. They clear them through the refurb store.

The Apple Watch has never had a plastic film on the face. Did the box have the pull tab shrink wrap? That is a direct sign of a new product. I’ve read more than one story now of people claiming brand new unopened newer Apple products online that didn’t have the pull tab to open the shrink. One even didn’t have the MacBook inside. But compressed cardboard to mimic the weight.

Now for an opinion no one asked for........

Apple Watchs packaging has been a microcosm of Apples cost cutting corners when possible. Opening an Apple product was an experience. Made you feel you bought something premium and special.

My Apple Watch series 0 had a nice sleeve. Hard plastic felt lined traveling/storage case and get this, a charger! My SS even had a nice stainless ring around the charger puck. A little touch. Now that’s reserved for the Hermès. To some even mentioning these facts means you just hate the environment

My Series 6 had a plastic film on it, and also the one in this unboxing video....

I just bought a series 6 Saturday at the local Apple Store and it didn't have a plastic film on it. It was in a paper like sleeve. The box had the plastic peel away covering but no plastic film on watch face..

I came here looking for this exact topic. I just bought a series 5 from Best Buy and the plastic pull tab was on the outside of the overall packaging, but there was no pull tab on the Apple Watch box itself, but there was on the box for the band. Also, I did not have a plastic film over my screen. Why the discrepancies in packaging?!

In my case (Apple store), I swapped the sport band for a sport loop in-store so the outer plastic wrap was removed but the watch box and the strap had the usual pull tabs/strips. My watch itself had the cardboard sleeve on but no plastic film on the screen. From watching almost every series 6 unboxing video on YouTube, only a few showed the film on the watch face and those were all right when the watch was released. The overwhelming majority did not have the film on the watch itself.

Apple makes quite a few trivial changes with their packaging over the years. They have removed things like the felt pouch for certain Apple Watch models, the pull-tabs, even the cardboard layout, The removal of the plastic boxes in place of cardboard inserts, etc. It’s all about the cost savings across hundreds of thousands of Apple watches that saves money and of course their ‘environmental reasons’.
