Apple Watch Remote will not pair with Apple TV

The apple TV remote app on my apple watch was paired and functional before the last Watch OS update to 8.1. Now it is unpaired and I can no longer pair it with Apple TV. It doesn't appear under remote apps and devices on the TV. I have apple TV 4 and the software is up-to-date. They are both connected to the same wifi network. I have restarted both devices. The remote app on my iphone is still connected.

I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with apple support yesterday. We repeated a lot of the troubleshooting steps that I had already done along with several more. The weird thing is the remote app is still working on my husband's series 6 watch and he has the same OS version. The issue has been escalated to their engineering team. Hopefully they'll find a solution. I am missing it!

My watch series 7 is paired with my Apple TV. Open the remote app on the watch (make sure your phone is unlocked) and select your Apple TV. It will now pair. My watch is not on the list of paired devices under the remote and devices, either.

thanks for trying to help, but we've tried that and so much more. My apple TV disappeared from the remote app altogether last week after upgrading to watch OS 8.2 and will not let me add it back. Apple support has escalated the issue to their engineering department after spending an hour and half on the phone with me.

Today’s TV os update has fixed issue for me. 15.1.1 seems to have solved it- now shows up on watch again

I am having the exact same issue. I have 4 Apple TV’s and using a series 6 watch. All 4 ATV’s disappeared from the watch a few weeks ago and I cannot add them back again no matter what I do. Spent a couple hours otp with Apple Support with nothing to show for it. I can control all 4 ATV’s with my iPhone’s remote app so don’t think it’s the ATV’s. Definitely a watch issue.

Having this issue with my Apple Watch Series 7 (9.3.1). Just got a new Apple TV 4k (A2169 tvos 16.4) and it's no longer showing up when I open the remote app on my watch like my old Apple TV did. Remote works on my iPhone and my wifes Apple Watch Series 7. Restarted both my watch and the Apple TV to no effect.

The weird part comes in where I can go into the Now Playing app on my watch and see the Apple TV, as well as controll it from there. So, there is obviously some connection happening between the devices, just not in the remote app...

Any ideas on this one?
