I have the launch Apple Watch and just last week my screen separated from the body. I went to the Apple store and they said it would cost $199 to repair. WTF. I was looking at the series 1 Watch. What’s the difference? Is the processor upgraded from the launch Apple Watch?

Anyone have any tips on getting my launch watch repaired? Thanks.

if the screen separation is from the battery bulge, it should be covered by Apple. otherwise, you're out of pocket.

i just upgraded from the launch watch to a Series 3, it's the difference is phenomenal. i wouldn't bother with a series 1 at this point.

If it was me, I would push the issue that it could be the battery bulging, as there is a recall for that specific issue for the first generation Apple Watch. I don't know that Apple deemed it not to be a battery issue for your Watch, but if they didn't investigate throughly enough aside from just providing a repair estimate, I would certainly have a supervisor step in if necessary.

Because if they do decide to replace your watch, they will issue you a Series One Apple Watch, which would prevent you from spending your money IF the Watch has the defect as mentioned.
