I am curious how common this issue is...

Since receiving my Apple Watch Ultra 2 (initially running watchOS 10.0, now 10.0.2), my watch will seemingly randomly respring/reboot throughout the day. The display shows the Apple logo, reboots, and then requests my password. Sometimes, I catch it in the act; other times, I am just prompted for my password. It's frustrating because I am not getting health tracking or activity credit while it's unlocked. I confirm my watch is tight against my wrist.

In reviewing my error logs (Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements -> Analytics), I see a kernel panic log ("panic-full...") for each time this has happened. It's been two times each day this week and four times already today. I was inclined to see this as a hardware issue and seek a replacement watch during my two-week return period, but my partner's new AW9 has the same issue (though she's only experienced it twice). In every instance, we were working in front of our Macs, so perhaps there's a Continuity or Handoff bug or else in the software?

Has anyone else experienced this kernel panic / respring issue with watchOS 10? You may only notice your watch asking you for a password and assume that it was loose on your wrist and became unlocked. It's easy to miss the respring. Thanks!

My latest test is using a different watch face. I’ve noticed that the rebooting only happens when I’m working and have a particular watch face (Modular Ultra) tied to my work focus mode. This watch face has Timery (for time tracking) and Fantastical. I’m switching to a watch face with fewer and more first-party complications. I’m probably reaching for air, but it’s worth a shot before I go into an exchange process.

Follow-up: This issue seems to have been occurring on the Modular Ultra watch face (with Fantastical and Timery complications). My watch does not reboot on other faces without those complications.

My Ultra 2 randomly reboots by itself too and I am also using the Modul Ultra face (but I haven’t tried with other faces yet). Were you able to solve the issue?

Two Timery widgets caused rebooting. With only one, there’s isn’t an issue. I emailed the developer who said they’d look into it.
Is this issue now resolved for you? Have you had any issues since? I’m having the same problem now with the same “panic-full…” log entries but I don’t have Timery. I am using the Modular Ultra face but all my current complications are proprietary. Would love to know if yours is now working properly.

I haven’t tried again since moving back down to a single Timery complication. I suspect the bug is some sort of interaction between the system and third-party apps, but I suppose given your experience, it could be a singular system issue. Are you using the latest watchOS?

See my response above.

I was on the latest update for watch and paired phone. I say was as the issue escalated to the point where it is now in the mail back to Apple.
Over a few days the reboots became increasing more frequent. The watch was spending more time off than it was on until it just stopped functioning altogether. Black screen, non responsive, could not reboot manually and there was no connection to my phone. So now it’s back to Apple for investigation.

Potentially a different issue. Sorry to hear you experienced that; I hope your replacement is better! You probably don't want to go through it, but if the issue remains, you may want to start fresh and add apps / watch faces one by one to see if you can ID a third-party app that's giving you issues.
