I have always used a screen protector on my apple watch (Ion-X models) to avoid surface scratches, do I even have to bother with a Sapphire screen? I know they are not "invincible" but still, just wondering what/if people still use protection on their watches with sapphire screens.

Thanks

No (nor did I do it for Ion-X, though that's more understandable). They look cheap, and I've owned 4 sapphire models without as much as a scuff.

All depends on you, but I have had every version Apple Watch with sapphire screen, and never used a screen protector of gotten any scratches, and I don't baby my watch. I did have one Ion screen, that got a ton of scratches quickly.

While the "sapphire" Apple uses for its products is nowhere near as good as genuine sapphire used by watchmakers it still holds up pretty well.

Most screen protector are smudge magnets. Personally I don't even wear a screen protector on my phone and it only shows micro scratches that are only noticeable if I rub my eye against the screen.

I refuse to use a screen protector, they’re tacky. The only option was the higher priced Apple Watch models, because it includes the sapphire display, but I’m fine paying that, because I want the added protection and I _don’t_ want to see scratches on a 44 mm display.

let’s make a deal. You put a screen protector on you sapphire apple watch and I’ll put one on my Rolex. maybe I’ll put a case on it too 😂

I've never used a screen protector on a watch, though when I had my aluminium AW4 I did use a snap on all over case if i was doing DIY or gardening. But that is it.

As another poster said, you don't put a screen protector on a Rolex or even a Timex, so why would you on an AW...it is a watch :)

I think the 'craze' is because a lot of us put cases on our phones.

I would consider it for the Aluminum AW since mine is scratched all over and it’s very noticeable. Although if I were to actually buy one with my own money I would go for a SS or above version.
