Ultra got all the attention. But the Apple Watch SE 2022 is a really nice release and upgrade. Comes with S8 chip, same as the new Series 8. Priced lower than the former SE at $249. I do think you need an iPhone to maximize value of the Watch SE, but once paired, you can do an awful lot with the SE version. Good for people who want to receive their phone calls, text messages, and email notifications quietly/stealthily. Has more than enough health and fitness features if you don't need the new Ultra. Can also do Apple Pay. Plenty of features for the price.

Will Apple will sell a lot of these? Good entry product for people getting their first smartwatch, as well as for activity-lite people to do simple tracking/monitoring. Parents snapping them up during Christmas for their children. Now that the iPod Touch is gone, I don't see any other Apple product, at this pricepoint, doing what the SE does.

I have the first gen SE & really like it. It had all the features I wanted, nothing I didn't need (AOD, some health tracking). To me the only drawback is the slightly smaller size: SE is not available in 45mm. In my subjective opinion AW SE is 9/10.

I’m coming from a Series 6, and the only thing stopping me from switching to the SE is the always on display. It’s something I’m not sure I’d want to be without having had it for the past 2 years.

I also have a Series 6. Not sure why one would want to replace that with the new SE, unless your Series 6 is damaged or lost. As great as the SE is as an entry-level device, it is really a downgrade compared with the 6 — and not just the always-on display.
