My daughter's Apple Watch S2 SS 44MM died (it used to be my old watch) recently. I was initially planning to give her my S4 SS and get S8 SS, but nothing is exciting about any of the newer watches that would push me to want to upgrade from my trusty S4 SS, so I decided to keep it for another year or even more. I got a battery service done by Apple recently, so the watch is in perfect condition; the battery is at 100% and still under warranty until May'23, making it an even less compelling reason to upgrade.
Keeping the costs in mind (my daughter is buying it after all), she is considering the most cost-effective option to replace her dead S2, but it does not necessarily have to be the absolute best savings/deal, so the used watches are not the option. BTW, she never felt that she needed to upgrade from S2, so performance or features are not a factor, but the price is. Currently, our local MicroCenter is offering SE 44MM for $179, while SE 2nd Gen is listed for $259.
I am not the kind of a person that tracks Black Friday deals etc., so I have no idea if we should expect significantly better pricing during Black Friday. I feel SE 44mm at $179 is a great deal, but I don't know if historically this is the lowest you can get this watch or is there still some room for the price go drop, let's say by another $50? Any thoughts?
