Apple touts the Apple Watch SE as being for Kids and older people who may not have an iPhone but who want an Apple Watch and as a result created a half baked Family Set up.
Half baked? Yes. I got one for my son for his 13th birthday.
1. He has received spam calls on his phone. I thought he could only get calls from approved contacts but I can’t find a way to set that like you can on a Gizmo watch.
2. He has received a text from some spam offering a viagra type sexual enhancement product. Not appropriate for a 13 year old to get and again where is the blocking/filtering.
3. When I set the device up with Verizon they knew it was a child device. Who does the fault lie with. Verizon should do a better job as all carriers should with blocking scam calls and texts, something we should have legislation on, but certainly Verizon and the carriers should apply better measures to child devices.
4. Apple’s truly the one to blame though because if a Gizmo can stop calls and texts from unapproved contacts, Apple’s new SE and family setup better do a better job and not be rushed to market.
5. And because the device is setup through my watch app, my son can’t use the watch app on his phone to control other aspects like his icon layout but I can’t set they for/with him. Oversight!!
6. Apple if you want to tell Amphetamine after years they are selling drugs because your App Store review process is on auto-pilot or some newbie approver is an idiot or your CEO decides to play politics too too too much in apps that can or can’t be on the App Store and you don’t want to have a modicum of impartiality by treating all cases the same and start banning tons of social media apps and the like,
THEN AT LEAST get off your butt and do something about keeping lewd content and scammers away from my 13 year old son because your horrendous implementation of Family Setup for Apple Watches is crap. Put your efforts where they should be if you want to claim to be a MORAL BEACON.
