Out of curiosity, I checked the buyer's guide regarding the Apple Watch SE... time flies! Given the release of iPhone 16e, I wondered what the consensus is about Apple releasing the AW and iPhone SE (-e) models at the same time. This would give users the option to buy the entry models for both product lines with the latest and greatest, together. After all, the 16e's A18 will be "outdated" (tongue-in-cheek) when the A19 arrives. What difference would it make for the AW SE to follow a similar pattern? The main benefit to AW SE releasing in September with the other AW models is the same processor, at least until Apple segments the models further, debuting the S9 Pro in AWU 3 😂

What do you think about the AW SE release schedule? Or its update [in]frequency?

I suppose I care less about the schedule than what the product is. I'm going to buy based on need rather than release date.

An Apple Watch with a notably different design could be really fun. Perhaps as rumoured it could plastic, colourful, possibly more rugged, and relatively cheap. I suspect this would be super popular for kids, and maybe for people who wanted a fun sports watch but not necessarily something to wear 24/7 - I can easily think of people in my life who would love one as a birthday or Christmas gift!

On the other hand, if the SE is basically just the design from 2-3 generations ago (maybe with a newer processor), it's far less interesting.

I’d agree, but the 5c didn’t go over so well. If the price is more competitive with “inferior” materials (I think plastic is fine, although against the skin is less than ideal) it could work out. I really liked the clean white aesthetics of the older ceramic AW Edition, but the price was a nonstarter… a white plastic option would’ve been favorable.
