I just picked up a used Apple Watch SE. I’ve never been a watch wearer. But I think that just changed. I am stoked about my watch. This thing is awesome. Even though it isn’t a brand new one, it’s my first one. And it goes great with my new iPhone 13. What are some things I should do and download. As a newb I have no idea at all on what to do with it. Lol other than check my heart rate every ten seconds.

A lot of the same apps for the phone also work on the watch.

Some of my favorite apps include the following in no particular order...

1) WorkoutDoors - exercise app
2) Deliveries - check the status of deliveries
3) Watch Feeds - get RSS feeds on the watch. I get a notification and article headline every time a new article is posted on MR.
4) OTP Auth - One Time passcode app for watch, phone, and Mac (great app)
5) Heart Analyzer
6) Autosleep - keep track of how well you sleep at night
7) wHealth - great health charting app
8) Strava - running app
9) Tempo - running stats app

Here's a recent-ish thread on the topic.

TLDR: kinda depends on what apps you have on the phone that have a companion Watch app and what you will use the Watch for.

At minimum, setup some watch faces. Setup Apple Pay for the Watch. With iOS 15, maybe setup the Fitness Focus for when you start a Workout via the Watch. Or an Automation for certain Workouts (eg. I have one for when I start a hike Workout, starts a GPS tracking app on the phone). Setup the Dock on the Watch with the apps most important to you and maybe not in a complication in a watch face. Maybe an Automation to change the Watch face (eg. I have an Automation to set the face to a "workout" watch face I have before my workout time, then switch to a more stylish one when done with a Workout).

For me, the most used things on the Watch are Workouts, Timer, audio controller, Apple Pay, Weather. And second screen to the phone to get Notifications.

It’s definitely been a life saver at work when I’m busy doing paperwork. It saves me from constantly pulling out my
Phone just to see if a notification is something important or not. Thanks guys
