First off, does anyone still have a series one? Mine was gifted to me and I like it. But I feel I don’t use it enough to justify an upgrade. With that said.. a couple weeks after the 3 yr mark, the battery swelled. Though Apple knew that was a common issue with series one, they still made me pay the fee for replacement. And I did. Now about 110 days later (20 days or so past their 90 day replacement warranty).. the back part with the heart rate sensor disconnected from the watch. Person online said I needed to go in to get it looked at. No word about it being past 90 days. So I went in today and was again told I need to pay and send it in. This device has only been in my possession under 4 months. So I paid $75+ in June for a refurb that lasted 3-4 months. I couldn’t justify another fee! I find this overall situation quite frustrating. No exceptions made, by a company known to have great customer service. Didn’t even make an attempt to get a manager. Is this anyone else’s experience?

Also.. is there anything I can do to reattach the heart rate sensor? I mean the wiring is still in tact. From what I read online this is common (AGAIN) in this series. And sending it in I would have been paying for them to “glue it back on.” Disappointed.

I have a S1 that I bought new in 2018. I've had zero problems with it.
I think you're being unrealistic to expect Apple to fix issues on your 3 year old watch for free.
It doesn't make a difference that you only had it for a few months. The warranty doesn't reset.
They handled your situation exactly as I would have expected them to.
Time for you to buy a brand new S3 for $200.
It's a great watch for the money, and it will have a full warranty.

I get it.. I know they followed procedure.. just bummed I couldn’t get more time out of it. (Especially after just spending 75$ to repair it in June) Knowing the only thing keeping me from continuing to use it is a bit of glue. Seems like a waste.

Where are you finding a series 3 for $200? My problem is I always want the “best.” I have the stainless black S1. Quite pricey when it was purchased. I like the harder glass, because it’s a Watch, it gets hit on occasion. And the stainless matches my phone. Just being picky I guess. I really only use it for notifications and the heart rate monitor.

$199 is the new list price for the 38mm AW S3 GPS only.
$229 for the 42mm model.
You can get these prices anywhere Apple Watches are sold.
Who knows -- maybe they'll be even cheaper on Black Friday.

Just to help with comms here: that Watch was not ‘series 1’. You had an ‘original’ watch, colloquially called a series zero (S0) by some people.

When the Series 2 Watch was released, Apple created a Series 1 which had similar internals to the S2 but lacked the upgraded waterproofing. It only came in aluminium.
