The Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 are among the latest additions to the Apple Watch lineup, so how do they compare?

Apple-Watch-Ultra-2-vs-Series-10-Buyers-Guide.jpg

Both the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 feature hypertension detection, Sleep Score, sleep apnea detection, speaker playback, an Always-On Retina display, IP6X dust resistance, and more, but there are still significant differences between the two devices. The Apple Watch Ultra focuses on withstanding extreme environments, a high level of durability, extended battery life, and additional features to aid activities like diving and exploration.

With as little as $50 between the 46mm titanium Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra, some prospective customers will be weighing up whether it is worth spending a little extra to get the 49mm Ultra model. While there is a $400 difference between the GPS-only 42mm aluminum Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra, the high-end model offers a set of features to address specific challenges, so it may even be worth it for some of these buyers.

The Apple Watch Ultra offers specific capabilities to address the requirements of those who need their Apple Watch to provide assistance in challenging environments. If you need a more durable Apple Watch with features like louder speakers, a more reliable GPS, better water resistance, and more, the Apple Watch Ultra is undoubtedly the best choice. The Apple Watch Ultra is clearly better equipped to handle tasks like hiking, diving, and navigation.

The Apple Watch Ultra is also biggest and most feature-rich Apple Watch option available, not to mention that the Ultra form factor offered the first major redesign of the device since its introduction in 2015. For technology enthusiasts, Apple Watch Ultra represents a way to get a new Apple Watch experience with top specifications in several key areas. Features like longer battery life and the Action button are also highly accessible, and will be beneficial to all users. As such, some customers may still be inclined to choose the Apple Watch Ultra 3 over the Apple Watch Series 11, even if they do not need it for use in challenging environments.

As the largest Apple Watch model to date, the size of the Apple Watch Ultra will not be for everyone. If you already prefer the 42mm Apple Watch casing size, the Apple Watch Ultra may be far too large for you. If in doubt, it may be worth heading to an Apple Store and trying on the Apple Watch Ultra in person to get to grips with the size and determine if it is too big and bulky for you. It is worth noting that while the 46mm Apple Watch Series 11 has a display size that is very similar to that of the Apple Watch Ultra 3, it is a much smaller device physically.

Similarly, the Apple Watch Ultra's look may not appeal to some buyers. One of the most important differences between the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 is their designs, with the latter boasting a much chunkier, aggressive look with a flat display. The Apple Watch Series 11 has a much subtler appearance and is available in wider range of finishes, but which look you prefer is ultimately a matter of personal preference. If you prefer the idea of a polished finish and are looking... Click here to read rest of article

I got my first Ultra when it was introduced 3 years ago, compared to my then S7 Ti, it was a steal.
and that still holds true compared to the top model 46mm it's a bargain.
Of course you got to like the size and looks of it and I understand not everyone does.

I’ve had series 3, series 6, and series 9. Stainless steel except for the series 9. Each had the glass separate from the body. I need more durability, SOS satellite, and a wider screen aspect. More battery life is always useful. At my age the little things count more than in the past.

I was hoping they’d make some real changes in the Ultra 3 but they didn’t. Still the same.

It’s so thick that I can’t fit it under my suit cuffs and shirt.

Because of this I’m not buying one until it’s thinner.

Oh well, they can’t make us all happy.
Maybe No 4 will be 3-4 mm thinner.

It reminds me of my dive watch, which I love, but only wear when actually diving because it’s too large for day to day.
I like the idea of the Ultra series, but not enough to own one in tandem with a regular AW for when I’m not hiking or biking.

If that blasted Oceanic Diving app was a 'buy once and keep it' rather than a monthly subscription for no reason, I would already own an Ultra. Oceanic has made dive computers for at least 30 years without subscriptions. I see no need for this to be one.
If someone else made a moderately useful diving App, and I knew about it, that was buy once and own it, I would get an Ultra.

Neither has happened yet, so just haven't quite felt the need. It is a little big for my taste, but I could forgive a dive watch, as I have in the past.

I bought an Ultra 2 a couple years ago and tried it for a week. Hated the overall size (not for me) but i LOVED the FLAT screen. To this day i can’t stand the curved screen on my Series 10. When touching the edges, 20% of the time i miss whatever im trying to push because it’s curved and the angle is diffferent. I just want it to be flat :(

The Ultra 3 is listed as 12mm thick on Apple’s Tech Specifications page, not 14.4mm. The weight is also incorrect.

Interesting.. I have an Ultra2 that I may sell or trade in. I rarely wear it because I have a "real" watch collection, but I may get a 46MM AW11. I travel extensively and the Apple Watch has more than paid for itself with timely notifications and a quick glance for dates and times, other than that it will sit on the charger.

Surprising that the Ultra 3 display is a mere 2.5% bigger than the 46mm AW11

Good article. Somehow I prefer the design of the normal Series watch. But not going to upgrade from my Series 10. Very happy with it.

Why do people keep listing hypertension detection, Sleep Score, sleep apnea detection as Apple Watch 11 and ultra 3 features? It a watchOS 26 feature that is available on multiple previous generations.

Also I’ve seen people say Watch 11 is a “big upgrade”… it’s the same exact watch as the 10 but slightly bigger battery and better scratch resistance. 🤦🏻‍♂️ That is it and no it’s not thinner.
