With the Apple Watch Series 12 now just two months away, we have created a recap of rumored new features, with some more likely than others.

Below, we have outlined everything rumored so far for the Apple Watch Series 12.

More Likely

New Chip After One-Year Hiatus

While the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3 all contain the same S10 chip as the previous year's models, leaked Apple code showed the Apple Watch Series 12 will get a new chip. It is unclear if the chip will have S11 or S12 branding, but performance improvements are expected either way after a one-year hiatus.

Longer Battery Life

With the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple is focused on longer battery life, according to a known leaker on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Apple says the Series 11 lasts up to 24 hours on a single charge, or up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode.

Less Likely

Touch ID

Touch ID may be coming to the Apple Watch Series 12, according to leaked Apple code.

Touch ID would likely be built into the Apple Watch's side button, enabling users to unlock the device with their fingerprint instead of a passcode.

Even though new Touch ID references were discovered in the code, there is no guarantee that Apple will move forward with this plan. One leaker has denied the rumor, and credible sources such as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have yet to mention Touch ID coming to the Apple Watch this year.

Band Sensors

Another sketchy rumor from a leaker known as Kosutami claimed that the Apple Watch Series 12 will have a band with at least one health sensor in it, which would be a first. Health sensors are built into the Apple Watch directly on all existing models.

Kind of easy to tell if the fingerprint is real or not.
Wait and look at the upcoming cases. They got to have a cut out if the fingerprint sensor is indeed there. 🤣

I buy many of the upgrades and still barely wear it. A more inspiring shape -- even round (gasp!) might be nice. I get that developers would need a new sizing requirement, but are we all vibe coding anyway? 🤪

I'm seeing less and less people wearing their Apple Watch. Myself included. There needs to be a new design and various models. Everything from just a little fitness band to the Ultra. Partner with a watch brand to make it look like a real watch but with the fitness tracking. Finally give us a round version. Custom watch faces. Or else the sales will keep dropping hard.

What do you guys use your Apple Watch for? I’m using a normal analog watch and a Garmin for sports. Would I benefit from an AW?
I'm one of those who tried to use my Japanese Casio 5000U and found out that I rely too heavily on my Apple Watch.

The following list is applicable to only me - these are things that are important to me as to why I use an Apple Watch (this will vary from user to user). Note: I have most notifications on my watch turned off.

In order of importance:

Haptic alarm when I sleep with earplugs - for alarm clock and allowing those on my favorites list to wake me up in an emergency. Ability to keep my phone on silent all the time (with no haptics). Ability to see perfectly accurate time at night clearly when I'm on foot during my second job in the dark. Using my AW as a flashlight when I pee at night (more frequent as I age). Setting verbal alarms/reminders/timers that go off silently and don't involve pressing buttons or listening to a faint audible beep. Driving my car (my watch is my car key). Jogging without my iPhone being able to take / make calls while listening to music with AirPods as well as opening my apartment complex gates and front door. Being able to be in a crowded noisy event and be notified of calls (similar to haptic alarm) (important for second job). It is the best reminders machine I've ever used.

Bonuses: Unlocks my Mac (any admin prompt), allows me to audibly ping my phone when I lose it, keeps track of my calories burned per day, one glance for current temperature/weather conditions (along with sun-up / sun-down times), can remotely turn on the AC or heat on my car without my phone, fitness data when I jog/walk or do Apple Fitness+, ability to access my Apple Notes/iMessages/a compass/etc without my phone, ability to control my Apple TV as a remote, etc...

I've concluded that an Apple Watch is something I want in my life and I like it. I use on average 30% of the battery per day with my setup (Apple Watch Ultra 3). My band collection has grown so I have workout bands, relax at home bands, and bands that work with a suit and tie.

I looked into AW sales and they have taken a slight 1% down turn lately. I think there's a big push to de-tangle one's self from the digital world. My wife left her Apple Watch with a beautiful Japanese made Seiko watch - her life is such that she doesn't miss her Apple Watch (I tried, could not do the same with my Casios).

yawn....Apple Watch is the one device I go absolutely as long as possible before upgrading. Basically after 3 years how long can i put up with "mid day" charging to get through the day/night?
The later Apple Watches are quite good on battery. My wife's small AW11 easily lasts 1.5 days. My AWU3 will push 3.5 days fairly easy depending on how much exercising I do.
