So Just got my apple watch series 3 I'm trying to update it to 4.1 and its stuck on verifying for the past 30mins. Any advice?

Patience can be key at times with the patches for the Apple Watch to update. Otherwise, you have to be cautious what you do when you update the Apple Watch when it is trying to update. If it is frozen in a specific area, I would contact Apple support from that point forward so it doesn't brick during the update.
Same thing happened to me. If you hold down the crown button I believe and or the power button at the same time (it's one of these settings) it should ask you if you want to restore to factory settings. You'll click yes, and then redo the process all over again. It was stuck on verifying update and then tips on how to work the watch, but wouldn't go any further than that. Even after an hour. So I gave up and did what I just told you. Good luck. Hope this works.
I’d restart the watch on the verifying stage. I think it’s checking the file that was downloaded so the existing OS should be still there intact. Therefore a reboot should put you back to the existing OS.
