Apple watch series 4 screen after battery change

I sucessfully changed the battery in my series 4 watch. Now the time and the charge symbol show on the screen but that is all. I have forced restart but it is just the same. case not yet sealed just temp held in place until I know how to proceed. Pushing thr button or turning the knob do not seem to have any result. Any advice?

reset it and re pair

I thought the reset was to hold the knob and button in for over 10 seconds.. I did that with no change. Is there something else to do to reset?
