It's like what the title says..when I put down my Apple Watch on a table, sometimes it picks up a false signal as if my wrist wearing it and it turns into AOD mode. Sometimes it also takes a false heart rate measurement so it definitely distracts my health data in the long run.

Is someone else having this problem?

How to prevent this from happening? What kind of ideal table surface so that my Apple Watch does not pick a false signal. Right now I have a wooden table with some leather desk mat. Is the leather material prone to wake the Apple Watch?

are you placing it face up? or on it's side?
on it's side, or face down should keep it from sensing anything
Depending on your skin, you might need to wipe the back of the watch off after you take it off.

do you have a passcode on your watch?
when it's locked, the screen shouldn't turn on.
you can also set it to unlock with your phone
is wrist detection turned on?
the watch should lock automatically when you take it off
from a quick internet research, it uses the green LEDs (used for heart rate also) to detect your wrist, maybe the leather has similar reflective qualities as human skin

Quite strange. Never saw something like that. 🤨
I don’t know about a leather desk mat, but don’t you have a passcode protection activated ?

I've noticed that when I lay my watch on the nightstand and off the charger, the screen stays lit. I guess it should turn off but it has always done it. My first watch (which was replaced by this one for a defect) did the exact same thing. The nightstand surface is off-white and there is a lamp on it turned on.
