I have two 40mm Series 6 Apple Watches I have on Offerupnow, craigslist, FB marketplace and next door and this is my fifth year in a row wheeling and dealing used Apple Watches. what a pain.

We don't want to sell them with our bands, but to make them attractive they need bands. I considered just buying cheap ones from amazon so they look complete.

- What is the current highest trade in value offered by Apple for Aluminum Series 6 40mm?
- One watch is in excellent condition, the other is in "good" condition. Is apple very picky about this?
- Does Apple require bands be returned? How about the chargers? Do they want boxes?

I have the two watches priced at $525 (~$260/ea) and they aren't exactly flying off the shelves.

I would probably pay $50 in effort to just not deal with this problem. Recovering $210 each when they were $400 comes out to about $16 a month each over the year. That's good enough for me. I spent worse money than that over the year. :p

Trade-in value for the S6 Aluminum 40mm says "up to $210" in the US Apple Store.

I've done trade-ins through Apple last two times I upgraded, and no you don't have to provide the band or the box it came in, just the watch itself.

I don't think they are too picky about condition. They want to know if the watch is functional, no broken parts, and no deep scratches. They even say a chip on the edge of the screen is ok.

I did my trade-ins at the local Apple store, so I don't have any insights into the mail-in process. Doing trade-ins at the local Apple store is super simple and convenient. Buy your new watch, bring it home, set it up and make sure everything is working, go back to the Apple store with the receipt from your new watch and give them your old watch. You can, of course, turn in your old watch at the time of your purchase, but I find it reassuring to get the new one set up first.

Presumably, that is the cellular version?

Maybe GPS is ~$170 then.

This has some value, because used sales generally want a band and a charger. (I’ve found it is often people getting a watch for the first time, so they don’t want a project)

And I keep the chargers around the house. That said, I kind of want to replace those with the newer fast chargers. :/

Cool. Both of ours were bought online and shipped, so I suppose I’d just show those order receipts. I didn’t realize the trade in program was associated directly with the purchase of a new watch though.

I may just do this, like I said the hassle and time cost of reselling Apple Watches for top value is very high.

No, that's the quote I got for my gps aluminum S6. I never buy cellular, so I have no idea if they get more value when trading in. It hadn't occurred to me that you might get more for cellular. ;p

Also not sure if they accept trade-ins if you've already bought a new device online. I'm pretty sure there is a time limit for returning to the store to turn in your old watch after buying a new one, I believe it is two weeks.

I would check prices on Swappa.com. I have had good luck selling stuff there.

Hm. Well, I will take them in when I pick up a replacement MK2 I’ve been waiting on and post the results.

Do they want you to make a genius appointment for trade ins or is that normally handled in a walk-in? Trade in doesn’t seem to be an option in the reservation system.
