In a van down by the river
I thought it might be nice for responders to have an easy way to keep track of their Series 7 watch over time.

Battery life thus far:
Series 6 had 89% battery health at the time I upgraded to the launch day (10.15.21) Series 7. The Series 7 arrived with 71% charged and at 6:38pm yesterday evening, it was fully charged after being updated to 8.01. I slept with the watch as I normally do and just now put it on the fast charger after 25+ hours off the charger. with A0D off most of the time.

I use the Apple Sleep mode Focus at night. The series 7 had the Modular Duo for those of the time. I switched to the Contour face earlier today with the messages complication on the bottom and AoD turned back on as a weekend test. No social media installed. I currently have 27 apps installed with background app refresh turned off.

Been great for me. Picked it up fri evening and I couldn’t resist using it even though it was at 70%ish out of the box. I slept with it and haven’t charged it, still at 32% over 24 hours later with AOD.
I am hoping to get a little better battery health with the Series 7 than with the Series 6. I am also going to try and do better with not letting the watch battery get too low before charging.

mine so far is worse then my series 6 when my series 6 is down to 91% battery health. i hope its just a first day issue and doesn't persist or it might be going back unfortunately....

Consumption rate on my 45mm right now is about 25% every 6 hrs, or just a touch over 4% an hour. That's definitely trending slightly worse than my 44mm AW6, but it has only been a day of ownership.

My S7 45mm Hermes drops about 5-6% an hour. I moved a lot today, but definitely worse than my S6. Been using it since last Friday.

14 hrs here also since last charge (to 92%) and the watch is currently at 62% with only a brief workout today. Also with AoD off. A noticeable improvement over the S5 it replaced, although I never found the S5 insufficient.

Just checked this morning - lost 59% in 22.5 hours and yesterday was a 'normal' day (2-3 mile dog walk and 30 mins Apple Fitness. My S5 (with 81% battery life) would just last from 8am to about midnight, so an improvement, but not sure how that would compare with the 6. but 2.62%/hour average is probably the best I have got thinking about it.

Got AOD on AND wrist wake (never did both on the 5) - 45mm watch.

Update after a couple of days use, it's a fair bit better than my 3 year old S3 but not amazingly so. My S3 would last me all day (7am to 9pm usually) with about 30% ish left. My S7, with the same day, is at about 50% ish, but the S7 has AOD where the S3 didn't. But to balance that out the S3 has a 3 year old battery which has seen daily use, so it's health probably isn't the best. Overall I'm satisfied, but still think Apple needs to improve battery life overall.

With the about of tech in the S7 be glad you getting the battery life you receiving so far . Plus apple gave you faster top off charging for this reason

Are there any specific tips for saving battery?

I want to keep AOD on but except for this and notifications from messages and calls is there anything else that will be automatically on out of the box that will impact battery use significantly?

I’m usually down to 30% end of day (after 5 days of usage on the S7). Watch goes on at 8am and off by 9pm.

Had mine on 12 hours now.

Tons of email and text notifications, background refresh on, AOD on, raise to wake on, and I'm right at 50%.

How are you all getting this good battery life? Mine drops to 40% after 8 hours from 100% and all I use it for is activity and text notification

Took my 45MM off last night at 8:20PM used it for sleep tracking with AOD off. Turned the AOD on around 8AM, numerous notifications, checking activity, ran four miles outside without my phone and background refresh is on. Put my watch back on the charger at 7PM tonight at 21%.

The battery on my near-launch S5 is staring to go. Off the charger at 6am, it's now going below 20% by 9:30pm. Was over 35% at 11pm when new.
Yes, I could get the battery replaced, but I'd rather use it as a rationalization to upgrade.

Turn off background refresh on your apps that don't need to be kept up to date. That has helped immensely with mine

I used to be able to charge my S6 one night, go through the next day and night.

Now with my S7, I have to charge every night. It also seems to be charging slower on my Belkin stand than my S6 used to. :(

I was worried my s7 battery was bad. Battery life seemed to plummet compared to my s5 with 86% battery health. Then i did a few changes and now the s7 smokes my s5. First turn off background refresh of apps you dont need. Next, setup the watch as a new watch. There is not a lot to configure so its its pretty easy unlinke the iPhone. Next, dont use complications that require updates like stock prices. I used the new face and had tickers of two stocks and after i got rid of them, it helped.

i am now only using 2.5% per hour with the current setup.
watchOS 8.01
background refresh only on sleep, phone, health, message, reminders, activity, alarms,, calender, stopwatch and workout. all others are off.
no complications that update constantly
bluetooth on connected to iphone
cellular off
AOD on
location services on
fall detection off
lout noise detection off
hand washing timer off
all health background functios like periodic heart rate and o2 readings are on.
